Amilovesgurumi

About me

Welcome to my blog! My name is Karin and I live and work together with my husband in Greece. We emigrated from Germany about 10 years ago. At first I had a lot of difficulties with the Greek language and therefore little contact – I felt very isolated. But then I discovered how to crochet Amigurumi – small, crocheted animals or dolls. Crocheting helped me over many lonely hours, and since then, I‘m in the Amigurumi fever 🙂 . Meanwhile, I can communicate and I found friends – but the passion to Amigurumi has remained.

Then I began to design my own amigurumi. Usually I start by drawing a picture of the Amigurumi I would like to make, then I try to crochet it. Sometimes it works right away, but often it is a long way until I find the right shape. But the best part is: Crocheting calms down my restless mind and it is a little bit like meditation.

I like to write and that’s why you can also find short stories on this Blog – it is so much fun to tell them and to give the Amigurumi dolls a character. I also would love to see the Amigurumi you have made and maybe you have a story to tell about them. I am happy about every note, suggestions, criticism and of course nice and lovely words from you!

If you need any help with understanding the patterns email me and I’d be happy to help. I wish you a lot of fun with reading and crocheting!

    1. Hello my dear, I wish you lots of fun with the Amigurumi. I too have started crocheting to get through a difficult time. Crocheting is wonderfully relaxing and for a short time, you are only concerned with counting. This distracts from problems and gives the brain a little rest. This is in my opinion the second best relaxation – the best relaxation for me is still a walk in nature.
Much love to you and your family,
      Karin

  4. Just wanted to say abig thank you for sharing your pattern. I wanted to make a crab for my nephew as his star sign is cancer, and I searched for ages for the right size and found your site.
