When I was 5 years old, I got a wonderful Christmas present – a Barbie. I was the happiest girl in the world! I loved the doll and the clothes and the accessories fascinated me. I had a only a few dresses and shoes, but I had a lot of ideas and so I tinkered her clothes from tissues. Or I made a veil out of it, picked some daisies and I had a bride!
I also had some paper dolls, which I loved. Paper dolls are figures cut out of paper or thin card, with separate clothes, also made of paper. The clothes has folding tabs, so you can put them onto the doll.
I googled them and was surprised that you can still find them. I found a lot of free templates on Pinterest: Paper Dolls – Dolls of Downtown Abbey, for princesses, superheroes, angels, mermaids, geishas, bride and groom … the list is endless!
And since I love these things so much, I always wanted to crochet a dress up doll and now it has finally worked!!!!
Emily, the little Amigurumi girl
I’ve crocheted Emily with Catania Schachenmayr and she is 23 cm tall. The wig is not sewn, because over time I also want to design other wigs and I can give her a completely new look: Maybe a pirate or a researcher or the Snow Queen, let’s see what comes to my mind.
This is soooo lovely! Thank you for sharing this, I love her!
Thank you, I have just visited your blog and found your doll clothes for Bleuette. Very sweet and natural look! I might try something like this for Emily!
Oh! Did you? ^_^ I’m flattered! That was my first time making doll clothes, so I definitely need more practice. There are so many cute ways you could dress up Emily ~ crochet dolls are so much fun!
She is lovely and I enjoyed reading about the paper dolls too. I loved making them when I very young too. I love Emily’s clothes and in particular her shoes! <3
Thank you Sharon! When I saw all the paper dolls at Pinterest, for a short moment I was thinking to cut out one again 🙂

It’s official: you are my favorite pattern designer. I love, love, love this doll! She came together so cute and the clothes are so simple. Thank you so much for the pattern!
Hello Kate, and I love to read your beautiful comment. Emily is a doll I also love very much. I wish you much fun with your doll!!!
Your Emily is so adorable. Loving her outfits and the dog in a purse love 😍. I’m attempting to make this doll for my niece Emily (how fitting right?) making the little outfits to go with but she requested pants/legging to go under the skirt so there a bit of figuring out on my part. Of course she wants them patterned tiger stripes. She also requested a rockstar outfit with guitar. The imagination on this girl is testing my crochet skills lol. Thank you for sharing your patterns. I can’t wait to complete this project and hopefully see more outfits added so my Emily can dress up your Emily.
Dear Monica, thank you so much for your comment. I’m so happy to read that you want to make the Emily doll and I’m curious about the rockstar outfit you would like to crochet for your niece. I think the idea is great and very modern.I just crochet a cape for the doll so that she becomes the Little Red Riding Hood. Would you be so nice and send me a picture of your Emily? I would be very happy about it. Have fun crocheting!!!
