Pippilotta Viktualia Rullgardina Krusmynta Efraimsdotter Långstrump

The character Pippi was created in winter 1941. The seven year-old daughter of Astrid Lindgren was at that time with pneumonia in bed and requested a get-well story of Pippi Longstocking.

Astrid Lindgren told her about Pippi in the house “Villa Villekulla” and her monkey “Mr. Nilsson” and the horse Lilla Gubben“. She said that Pippi can lift horses and eat a whole cake and with her friends Tommy and Annika she has many adventures.

Pippi Longstocking inspired my fantasy and I admired her courage and sometimes she even comforted me. Pippi was strong, and very cheeky. I thought that was great, because as a child I was a little bit shy, but always wanted to be like Pippi.

I went with Pippi to the vineyard, so that she could help me a little bit there and she sang her song: It’s Pippi Longstocking ♥ Heigh ho ho wa hee ha ha ♥ It’s Pippi Longstocking ♥ There’s no one like her.
First she discovered the Farm Tractor and I quickly hid the key, because you never know

Then she played on the tree, slid down branches and inspected the first grapes. 008016

When this became too boring, she was playing with the dogs and shouted to them: “Which one of you wants to be my horse? The dogs looked at me like they wanted to say: That can’t be true – what she just said ?!”

Matilda, the best of all female dogs, allowed her to ride a few rounds. At the end of the day we went tired but very happy (at least Pippi and I) back home.

  1. Okay, confession time. I’ve never read Pippi Longstocking’s story but boy, does she look adventurous! Your Pippi is so cute and the pictures colorful and fun. Glad to see Pippi, you, and Matilda and the gang had a fun day out in the sun. Heading to your next post now. I’m sure I’m going to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed this post. 🙂
