I was over the New Year holidays with my family in Kavala, which is a port city in northern Greece by the Thracian Sea. It has about 50,000 inhabitants and you can find here cozy cafes, great shops, a beautiful beach and even a fortress.
We are sooo happy because we are away from everyday life and the only thing on my to do list is: Relaxing!!! This sweet girl is my niece, she lives with us since she was 4 years old and we raise her as our child.
Here we are on the way to the fortress, the road was quite steep and I was out of breath. That brought me another resolution for the new year: Losing weight and getting fit – “Just like last year?” “Just as every year, James!”
Before we left the city, we strolled once again through the harbor area and visited the beach.
Other things I made:
I started for the umpteenth time (I stopped counting) a new attempt with my Greek–learning program to improve my language skills. Probably this will be a lifelong process.
The Greek language is very extensive, here’s an example: In the Guinness Book of Records the Greek language is mentioned with 5 million words as the most verbose language in the world. The English language, however, has 490,000 words and 41,615 words come from the Greek language.
I took some old crochet projects out of the closet and found ... Well, you may know him? At some point I lost interest because it got too complicated, but now I wanted to take up the challenge again.
As soon as I’m finished I will post the pattern on my blog, I have to change here and there a few things, write down the pattern, crochet the jacket … so it could take a while.
Another project that I started last year, is the doll Emily. Emily is a dress up doll and you see her this year more often with different clothes. I am writing the pattern and crochet her again to make sure, that everything is fine. In my next post you will find the pattern, for sure! Promise!
And then, well then came the real life and sent me a job offer (help for socially vulnerable children and teenagers), and I simply could not refuse. This will take up a lot of time and I think it will be a little bit quieter on Amilovesgurumi over the next months. So don’t be surprised if everything works in slow motion, then my time flows in a good job!
See you soon and have I said it before, no? Oh well: I wish you a wonderful year, full of magic, beautiful moments, wild adventures and relaxing hours with crocheting sweet Amigurumi, Karin
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful time and place. Family is very important and to make awesome memories with. Happy New Year to you also! Looking forward to your next message.
Thank you so much! Yes, you’re right, a family will give you support in difficult times and shares with you joy and happiness. But there are also people who have not experienced this despite having a family. I’ve experienced both and I know how difficult life can be when you grow up in a family who has many difficulties.
Karin, thanks for sharing about your travels. Happy New Year to you and your family. And your Gru is wonderful!!!
Thank you so much, I put Gru away because I couldn’t find a solution for the head. The head is not round, finish right after the eyebrows and there is almost no back of head. But luckily this year I found a solution. Now I can go ahead and crochet the jacket 🙂
So glad; can’t wait to see how Gru looks! Your work is so inspiring!
You have a beautiful family and what an interesting place to visit with them. I have the same new year resolution too! <3. Interesting about the Greek language. I plan to make lots of ami's and patterns this year plus spinning. Best wishes for your new job and Happy New Year to you also. <3
Thank you, I’m looking forward to your Amigurumi and your spinning projects. It is always fun to visit your Blog and see what kind of crazy and sweet things you have made 🙂
I wish you a very happy new year.
I love your Gru! He’s so cute! And the little dress up doll looks adorable! I hope you have a very happy year ahead.
Thank you for your sweet comment! I wish you also a great year, full with beautiful Amigurumi and wonderful ideas for projects!
